Menactra
Menactra was approved for general use in the Spring of 2005. It is approved for patients ages 11ys to 55yrs old.
Menactra protects against common strains of Bacterial Meningitis which is often fatal. Patients who survive meningits may loose limbs, become deaf or permanently disabled. The medical community is very excited to have this new vaccine which can protect our population against this deadly disease.
The vaccine is well tolerated and has few side effects. Less than 5% of vaccinated individuals have fever > 102F, but soreness at the site of injection is common.
